GISOwl accepts a wide range of geospatial and tabular file formats. Drag and drop files onto the map or click Upload in the toolbar.

Supported Vector Formats

Shapefile .zip containing .shp, .dbf, .shx, .prj Must be zipped together
KML / KMZ .kml, .kmz Google Earth format
GPX .gpx GPS track and waypoint data
GeoPackage .gpkg OGC standard, multi-layer support
TopoJSON .topojson Topology-encoded GeoJSON

Supported Tabular Formats

CSV .csv Must include lat/lon or WKT geometry columns
Excel .xlsx, .xls First sheet used; needs lat/lon or address columns
TSV .tsv Tab-separated values with coordinates

Upload Limits

File size limits depend on your plan. Free accounts can upload files up to 50 MB. Pro accounts up to 500 MB. Team and Enterprise accounts up to 2 GB. Files larger than these limits should be uploaded via cloud source connections.

Auto-Detection

GISOwl automatically detects coordinate reference systems (CRS), geometry types, and column mappings. If auto-detection fails, you'll be prompted to select the correct CRS and map columns manually.
