GISOwl was born out of a simple observation: teams everywhere were struggling with expensive desktop GIS software, disconnected tools, and complex workflows just to put data on a map. Founded in 2006, GISOwl set out to build a collaborative mapping platform that anyone can use — no GIS degree required.
Over the years, the platform evolved from a straightforward data visualization tool into a full-featured geospatial platform. We added AI-powered spatial analysis with Owl AI, a mobile field data collection app, upload support for virtually any format, and real-time collaboration that lets entire teams work on the same map simultaneously.
Today GISOwl serves customers across Asia, Europe, and beyond — from environmental consultancies and urban planners to logistics companies and NGOs. Our engineering team in Tbilisi, Georgia works hand-in-hand with our Hong Kong headquarters to ship improvements every week. We remain a small, focused company — and we like it that way.
Our team is a mix of engineers, product designers, and geospatial experts spread across Hong Kong and Tbilisi. We keep the team intentionally small so every person has real ownership over what they build.
